Sources from relative provincial departments say, from 2001 to 2004, Anhui has invested 440 million yuan project funds to solve the problem of rural drinking water, and over 2 million rural residents have benefited from the project. The 440 million yuan fund includes 243 million yuan allocated by governments of or above provincial level, 110 million yuan supporting fund by municipal or county governments and 87 million yuan funded by local people.
